KINCAID– The village of Kincaid met Monday night to discuss topics to put on the next meeting’s agenda at City Hall.
During the meeting, the city council discussed upgrading electrical services in city hall.
Gary Warren said while they may not need a backup generator, city hall will need to upgrade its electric services in City Hall. Some of the upgraded services would be new meter bases and supply conduits. The council received a bid from Star Electric to upgrade the system for $3,680.
“It needs to be done, if we wait the cost will increase,” Warren said. “If we’re not getting a new generator at this time, it’s not a problem but we do need to upgrade the electric system.”
The details of accepting or declining the bid will be discussed at the next City Hall meeting.
The village also discussed the process of condemning certain buildings in the village due to health and safety concerns. The process involves citing ordinances to the property owner for the property that is violating village rules and eventually giving the property owner a court notice to tear down or fix the building.
Mike Lawrence said the village wants to try to help those who can’t tear down themselves.
“The biggest thing is we’re not trying to take people’s property, we’re trying to clean up the community and help people who can’t do it themselves,” Lawrence said.
The council members also discussed assisting someone with tearing down their garage. The city had issued an ordinance about the building and the private citizen reached out to the city to ask for assistance in tearing it down. The total costs incurred for tearing down would be on the private citizen to pay.
The council decided to vote on the subject during the next meeting.
Also placed on the agenda for the next meeting was repairing the kitchen at the park and the work getting done at Kincaid Lake. Both topics will be discussed further at the next City Hall meeting.
The next meeting will be held at city hall on October 23 at 6:00 p.m.
