STONINGTON– The village of Stonington Board met at the village hall Monday night to discuss revisions to zoning ordinances in the village.
The village also discussed zoning ordinances in chapter 11, sections 11.2007 E and 11.302, for trailers, mobile homes, campers and other recreational vehicles. Originally, the ordinances left those who violated them with a warning and no penalty fees or a specified amount of time to comply with the ordinance.
The changes in the ordinances were that travel trailers, mobile homes, campers and other recreational vehicles placed on a property to be lived in must be registered with the city and hooked up to the city’s utilities. Failure to comply with the ordinance will result in a warning and 30 days to comply, if the offender fails to comply a $500 fine will be applied every 30 days after the first warning.
The village will also be purchasing a speedometer for $3,500 to be placed near the school and Route 48 to help slow down traffic in the area.
The next meeting will be held at the village hall on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 p.m.
