Arrests
Oct. 20:
A male juvenile, 16, Taylorville, was arrested for aggravated assault and criminal damage.
Hayley N. Hull, 30, Bulpitt, was arrested for retail theft.
Accident
Oct. 21:
A Quincy driver was ticketed by Taylorville police following a traffic accident in the construction zone on the bridge at Illinois Route 29 at 10:21 a.m. According to the report, a car driven by Leanne L. Hivley, 52, of Quincy, was southbound on the highway through the construction zone and failed to reduce speed and collided with the rear end of a pickup truck, driven by Robert J. Stephens, 73, of Taylorville, which was stopped in traffic. In turn, the force of the impact caused the pickup truck to strike the rear end of a utility vehicle, driven by Verdale V. Marquardt, 58, of Quincy. The Stephens and Marquardt vehicles sustained minor damage while there was major damage to the front of the Hivley car. Hivley was taken by ambulance to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for evaluation. She was also ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
