Wanda Lou Mansfield

Wanda Lou Mansfield, 91, of Pana passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born June 8, 1932 in Pana, Ill. to the late Bernard & Velma (Snyder) Hilton. She married Lyle C. “Ace” Mansfield on November 27, 1954 and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2013.

Wanda was a graduate of Pana High School. She worked as a homemaker & farmer, but had also worked at Pana Federal. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pana, the Pana Moose Lodge and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed gardening, making net balls, reading and bowling.

Wanda is survived by her children: Caren Mansfield (J.D. Waters) of Mechanicsburg, Ill.’ Carol “C.J.” Geist (Timothy) of Springfield, Ill.; Phillip Lee Mansfield (Kathleen) of Taylorville, Ill.; grandchildren: Katherine Suzanne “Kate” Mansfield and Kyle Thomas (Elizabeth) Mansfield and great grandson, Nicholas Mansfield. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Cheryl Jane and siblings: Barney Hilton, Bill Hilton, Jim Hilton & Shirley Buckley.

A funeral service for Wanda will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Past Keith Bueltmann officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.

Memorials in Wanda’s honor may be made to Pana Community Hospital Foundation or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pana and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
