TAYLORVILLE—Left to right: Leo Bluenstein, a Korean War 101st Airborne Division veteran, Thomas Herman, a Vietnam War Army Veteran, Bob Flaherty, a Marine Corps veteran from 1965-69, Fred Byers, a Marine Corps veteran from 1954-57, and David Whitehead, Marine Corps veteran from 1963-67 sit at Country Kitchen for some pie Thursday afternoon. The owner of Country Kitchen, Binny Letniku, said he got a table specially made to honor veterans. Letniku first saw a table similar to the one pictured when he was visiting his sister’s restaurant in Canton Ill., so he commissioned one from the creator. “It’s a beautiful table to honor our veterans,” Letniku said, “that’s why I got it. It really turned out beautiful and it fits perfect in here.”
