PANA — Congratulations to these fine young musicians from Pana Junior and Senior High on participating in the Illinois Music Education Association District 5 Concert Festival on Saturday, November 18. The students completed a rigorous audition process to be selected, and then enjoyed rehearsals and performances on that festival day. They all performed wonderfully under the tutelage of professional guest conductors.
Selected for the Senior Mixed Chorus were Emmett Mendenhall, Nicole Arkebauer, Cayden Hankins, Madison Wehrle, John Berns and Emma Stephens.
Selected for the Senior Band was Abbey Cline on flute. Selected for the Senior Orchestra was Liberty Law on French Horn.
Selected for Junior Band were Milo Martell (French Horn), Alyssa Pieper (Clarinet), Brynlee Tipsword (Trumpet), Karlee Hooper (Flute). Dace Jones (Tuba) and Nancy Presnell (Oboe).
Of special note, Senior John Berns was one of two musicians from the Senior Chorus to be selected to perform the National Anthem at a future IHSA Spring Championship Game. This is a huge honor to be chosen for this, as there are only 18 students chosen from around the state.
