The class of Taylorville High School will hold its 75th birthday party and get together at 6p.m. October first at the KC hall, 401 South Walnut Street, Taylorville. Tickets are $20 each and checks are to be sent to Sue Ann Grant, 980 N 1400 East Road, Taylorville Il 62586. In addition to a catered dinner and prizes, there will be a live music and dancing. All class members are welcome to attend either or both events. The Wanda Mountain Boys travel many miles singing traditional Southern Gospel Music. They desire to both uplift the Christians by sharing a positive message and a laugh or two as well as take the Gospel message to those who need to come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Small Town Taylorville will be hosting the last cruise of the season from 4:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. Event will include late night shopping from 4-6 p.m.; live acoustic soft rock from 4-7 p.m.; trunk or treat from 6-8 p.m.

 

Trunk or Treat at the October Cruise. Bring the kids up to the square for trunk or treat. The “motor heads” will have candy and some will even have their rides decorated for the event.

Day of sharing

The Christian County Quilters’ Guild will be meeting at the Stonington Community Center. Come view our guild members current and past challenge quilts and share your favorite quilt with us. Registration is $10; basket raffle tickets $1 each or five for $5; quilt raffle tickets are $1 or six for $5. The twice-monthly bereavement support group has resumed meetings at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. These meetings provide a safe space for adults to express feelings of grief and mourning over the death of a loved one. Participants may discuss and share thoughts and emotions surrounding loss; explore healthy coping strategies; self-care; receive support from others. The group meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Meetings are held in Conference Room 1222, located near the south entrance of the hospital at 201 E. Bike Rodeo

Taylorville Kiwanis Club and Taylorville Memorial Hospital are co-sponsoring a free bicycle rodeo in the hospital’s west parking area in front of Springfield Clinic. Children and youth are urged to bring their own bike and helmet.  All attendees will be entered into a drawing for a new bike. The bike rodeo will also feature a bike maintenance station; a skills/obstacle course; a helmet-fitting station; Safety and Rules of the Road booklets will be provided; giveaways; as well as refreshments. In lieu of classroom Halloween parties, North School will be co hosting a trunk or treat with PREP families. On Halloween, Students will enjoy a class treat but will not have a formal classroom party. Costumes are encouraged and treats such as; books; candy; and other goodies will be handed out at the event. Please park in the junior high or Kroger parking lot or on the street near North School. The trunk or treat will be held in the north parking lot from 5 to 6 p.m. Please keep in mind the school will be closed so there will not be bathrooms available.

Taylorville First Untied Methodist Church will be hosting a trunk or treat event for the fall season. Church members will have decorated trunks with lots of treats available. Taylorville High School FFA members will be hosting a trick or treat event from 5 to 6:30 p.m. To donate please consider; candy; hot chocolate; individually wrapped candy snack.
