The 4th annual National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, August 2 from 5-8 p.m. at the Christian County Fair grounds. There will be free food and drinks, a DJ, raffles, and face painting for kids. Come run the obstacle course, play on the inflatables, do the dunk tank, and participate sack races. This event is sponsored by TPD, TFD, CC sheriff, and police departments from Assumption, Stonington, Kincaid, Edinburg, and Morrisonville.

Bring your pooch to the pool day! ON Sunday, August 14, the Manners Park pool will be open to your furry best friend. From 11:30 – 1:30, small dogs will be allowed to swim. The Stonington American Legion Auxiliary in conjunction with the Taylorville VFW Auxiliary is hosting a benefit run for donations to the Wreaths Across America Campaign. Donations will fund wreaths to be placed on the graves in Camp Butler Cemetery near Springfield in December. The run will be held on August 27th starting at the Taylorville VFW and ending at the Stonington American Legion where there will be food and entertainment after visiting other towns in the area. Registration is 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at the VFW in Taylorville (515 N West Ave). Join in the fun while supporting a worthy cause.
