Coffee Meet Up

The Common Cup senior coffee at Edinburg Methodist Church meets every Wednesday of the month from 8 to 10 am. It is nondenominational—just free coffee and treats. Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to register for the GriefShare program held at Calvary Baptist Church, Taylorville. Sessions run from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Upper Room of Calvary Baptist Church at 930 Haner Avenue, Taylorville.  To register or for questions, call the church office 217-824-2324 or by email at calvary@cbctaylorville.com, There is no fee for attendance which will include a workbook and light refreshments.

The Taylorville V.F.W. Post 4495 will host a pancake and sausage breakfast. Chose from pancakes and sausage or biscuits and gravy. You can also choose both options. Donations will be $8 for dine-in and carry-out. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.

The United in Faith Methodist church at 200 South Walnut Street in Taylorville will host the Cloverbud Camp. This fun camp is for Cloverbuds, ages five to seven. The group will do fun activities like potting plants, arts and crafts, and animal learning. Lunch will be provided, and the event fee is $5. Westminster Presbyterian Church

The Springfield Civic Garden Club (SCGC) will meet at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Guests are always welcome to attend. Doors open at 9 a.m. for refreshments and social time. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. Several 2023 recipients of SCGC’s Community Grant Program will be available to report to the Club on their grant project progress. Eight grants totaling more than $7,000 were awarded earlier this spring. The Grant Program is supported through SCGC fundraising projects. The program features a Committee Fair. Tables with representatives from various Garden Club committees will be available for all members to learn about the many opportunities to serve within the Club. St. Mary's

St Mary’s in Taylorville will hold their annual White Ribbon memorial service at 3 p.m. Everyone who has suffered the loss of a child is welcome to attend. The child loss may be due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or death at any age. A memorial card with the child’s name will be given to the parent. The white ribbon will remain on the greenery at the front entrance of the church throughout the holidays. The Stonington United Methodist church has a common ground social gathering on the second Saturday of every month from 4 to 6 p.m. It is open to the public and free of charge. The Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce is hosting a drive-thru chicken dinner. You can find them in the US Bank back parking lot. Enter using the entrance on Main Street. Exit via Franklin Street. The dinner will be available with pre sale tickets only, which are $10 per meal.
