April Fool’s Day is also a clean-up day at the museum. The community is invited to come out that day for an hour or two and help us perform a good old-fashioned spring cleaning. Plenty of ways you can help while working inside, sweep, dust, clean windows. Those who like working outside can; we will pick up sticks; rake leaves; groom flower beds. Taylorville V.F.W Post 4495 will be hosting dinners every Friday during Lenten Season. The group will serve fish or shrimp for adults at $12, and a kids’ meal will be $6. The meals include; cole slaw; french fries; bread with butter; coffee; dessert available. Carryouts, handicapped accessibility, and lots of parking are available. Summer Repertory Theatre in Carlinville is pleased to announce open auditions for the July 2023 production, The Addams Family. Auditions will be held at Carlinville United Methodist Church at 201 South Broad, Carlinville. Those who wish to audition must be at least 7 years old. There is no other age restriction. A parent or guardian must accompany children for written permission and audition forms. Audition dates and times are Friday, April 14, from 5 to 8 PM and Saturday, April 15, from 11 AM to 4 PM. Callbacks are Sunday, April 16, at 1 PM. Auditions require singing music of your choice, or prepared music will be provided. Our popular nature journaling class returns to recording what you see, Use watercolors, paper, and brushes to hear, smell, and feel nature. We will discuss various ways to record your observations and experiment with drawing the signs of spring in the park. Please bring your journal and materials or use ours. The park is about 10 miles straight west of Decatur. Take Old Route 36 past Harristown to Lincoln Memorial Parkway; go south four miles. The park is on the east side of the road. Be inspired to grow houseplants at “Success with Indoor Plants at Taylorville Public Library.” Andrew Holsinger, Extension horticulture educator, will detail how to create a healthy houseplant environment by selecting the right plants for your indoor space and discuss cultural requirements, maintenance practices, and critical ornamental aspects in growing interior plants. The Common Cup senior coffee at Edinburg Methodist Church meets every Wednesday of the month from 8 to 10 am. It is nondenominational—just free coffee and treats. Healthy Kids Day

Healthy Kids Day at the Christian County YMCA. The event is free to the public, bike giveaway at 10:45 a.m. Various vendors focusing on the health and safety of children will be displayed at the event. The YMCA is located at 900 McAdam Drive in Taylorville. For more information, call the YMCA at 217-287-7271.
