Gerald L. (Jerry) Olive

January 10, 1954 — May 5, 2022

Gerald L. (Jerry) Olive, 68 of Taylorville passed peacefully surrounded by family on May 5, 2022, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Jerry was born January 10, 1954, to Edwin and Belle (Tarrant) Olive. Jerry married the love of his life Vicki (Vice) Olive on December 3, 1977. The two later divorced however always remained close.

Jerry was proceeded in death by his parents and sister Carol Ambler. He is survived by his daughter Susan (partner Jacob Muncy) Olive of Owaneco, grandchildren Isaac Reynolds and Zadie Muncy of Owaneco, brother James (Jim) Olive of Taylorville and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry graduated from Taylorville High School in 1972. Following graduation Jerry enjoyed being a drummer for the Taylorville rock band The Rockin Rebels through the 1980ís. Jerry worked for Taylorville Fire Department from 1976 ñ 1996, attaining several accomplishments including attending the National Fire Academy in Emmitburg, MD and being promoted to Captain in 1986 and Chief in 1992. Jerry was proud to finish his career with TFD as Taylorville Fire Chief prior to retiring. Jerry also had a fire extinguisher safety business throughout the 1980ís. Following retirement, he enjoyed maintaining and working on swimming pools.

Jerry will be cremated, and the family is will host a celebration of life at a later date.
