Pana Labor Day Parade theme: ‘That’s Entertainment’
(PANA) — The Pana Labor Day Parade Committee had announced the theme for the 88th Pana Labor Day Parade. “That’s Entertainment” was selected as this year’s theme.
“While we are still emerging from the recent pandemic and with challenges to families and individuals in these tough financial times, we’ve all had to get creative when it comes to entertainment,” Chairman of the Labor Day Parade Committee, Josh Ishmael said. “Whether you’ve gone to a baseball game – pro or little league – hold a game night with the family, watch a movie or just sit on the front porch in your rocking chair, people have been resourceful when it comes to their entertainment. The committee felt like the theme leaves it open to the imagination when coming up with a float.”
The parade, known as the Largest Labor Day Parade in Downstate Illinois, is set for Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. from Second and Poplar streets. Thousands of people line the streets of downtown Pana and along Kitchell Street to see the parade with makes its way to historic Kitchell Park on the south side of Pana.
Those who enter floats are eligible for cash prizes. The first place float entry will receive $500. Second place is worth $400 and third prize is $300. There are also cash prizes for lower places as well.
Anyone who wants their float judged on Labor Day should begin lining up at 8:00 a.m. at the designated area on Kitchell St. just off Second.
