(as observed by Elyse Clayton, Breeze-Courier)
Each year at the Morrisonville Picnic and Homecoming, people of all ages gather for the Annual Frog Jump, where competitors must persuade their frogs to jump three times. Whoever’s frog travels the furthest wins. Everyone enters with their own tactics each year, and the 50th Annual Frog Jump was no different. Here are a few of the methods:
The Stomp

With this classic move, contestants stomp next to the frog to startle it into jumping.
The Classic Clap

Similar to the stomp, competitors clap next to the frog in hopes it will jump in its fright.
The Scream

The trademark of one competitor, this invokes a louder method of scaring the frog (and the audience).
The Gentle Persuasion

This takes a much more polite approach to the challenge, gently nudging or whispering to the frog.
The Kick

This may be a new tactic this year, as this contestant was urged to nudge the frog with her foot and opted to take matters into her own hands and send it flying.
The “Hide and Let the Grownup Do It”

Some competitors were a little shy, or maybe even a bit scared of the frog, and let others participate on their behalf.
Giving Up

Despite their best efforts, some had to give up and accept that frogs don’t always feel up to the challenge.
