The VisionWay School Science Fair was held Wednesday, April 19, 2023 The projects were presented to judges and then placed on display at the school’s Academic Expo on Thursday, April 20. The students were recognized for their hard work. The following awards were announced:
8th grade: 1st: Bentley Waters- What Drink Stains Teeth the Most?, 2nd: Peyton Parrish- Does Temperature Affect the Air Pressure and Bounce of a Basketball?, 3rd: Lucy Franklin- Does Music Affect Test Scores?, Honorable Mention: Piper Cyrus- Does Floor Surface Affect the Bounce of a Basketball?
7th grade: 1st: Isabella Franklin- Which Tumbler Keeps Ice the Coldest?, 2nd: Abigail Wamsley-Which Stain Remover Best Removes Stains?, 3rd: Josie Kohl- Do Cats React to Music? , Honorable Mention: Karina Metcalf- Which Soda Evaporates the Fastest
The sixth grade students chose a scientist to research and prepared a demonstration of the scientist’s discovery.
6th grade: 1st: Lealah Truax- Mary Anning- Fossilist, Tie for 2nd: Aaron Blount- Lonnie Johnson: Inventor of the Super Soaker, 2nd: Amelia Propst: Alexander Graham Bell: Inventor of the Telephone, 3rd: Reagan Funderburk- Robert Chesebrough: Inventor of Vaseline, Honorable Mention: Piper Parrish – James Naismith: Inventor of the game of Basketball
Overall Project Overall 1st place between 7th and 8th grade: Isabella Franklin
