TAYLORVILLE — Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler has announced the Taylorville Police Department’s 2024 “Officer of the Year is Officer Jodi Grove. The announcement was made Wednesday.
“This prestigious recognition is a reflection of Officer Grove’s unwavering dedication, exceptional work ethic, and outstanding contributions to the Taylorville Police Department and the community,” Chief Wheeler said in a statement.
“Throughout 2024, Officer Groves has demonstrated an incredible ability to excel in every task she undertakes. As our Evidence Technician and Keeper, Officer Groves shows commitment to modernizing and organizing the evidence room,” Wheeler said. “This hard work has brought efficiency and professionalism to a critical aspect of the police operations. Her efforts have set a new standard for excellence and have greatly benefited the team and the justice system as a whole.”
Wheeler also pointed to Groves’ leadership in mentoring the department’s Police Explorers. He said she has inspired the next generation of law enforcement professionals, fostering a sense of purpose and community service that will undoubtedly have a lasting impact.
“Additionally, her meticulous work in collecting and processing evidence during search warrants has ensured the integrity of the police department’s investigations,” the Chief said. “Her expertise and attention to detail has been instrumental in achieving successful outcomes and upholding the standards of the department.”
Wheeler said Groves has a strong commitment to traffic enforcement, as evidenced by her achievement of issuing over 200 citations in 2024. It was the highest number by any officer during the year.
