Betty J. Sutton, 86 of Taylorville, passed away at 8:33 am on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at her home. She was born on May 2, 1939, in Springfield, Ill., the daughter of Charles Russell and Dorothy Louise (Boehme) Smothers. Betty had a smile that lit up the room and a heart for serving people. She enjoyed a Dixie Bell from Dairy Queen with her friend Betty Fines, a trip to St. Louis with the Eson’s and above all, loved her family, especially her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter: Lori (Donald) Bettis of Taylorville, Ill., and son: Aaron (Tammy) Sutton of Springfield, Ill., as well as three grandsons: Austin (Miranda) Peters, Evan (Megan) Peters and Ryan (Delanie) Peters all of Taylorville, Ill.; great grandchildren: Allison and Hudson Peters and Colbie, Collins, and Kendall Peters also of Taylorville, Ill., and Sister: Bonnie Hart of Decatur, Ill. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great granddaughter: Kinsley Peters, a sister and brother-in-law: Roberta and Dallas Stout, brother-in law: John Hart, and a brother in infancy.
