Loren A. Withrow

Loren A. Withrow, 92, of Taylorville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 3:40 a.m. on December 22, 2025, at Pana, Illinois. Loren was born on January 28, 1933, in Taylorville, Illinois, to Roy and Josephine Withrow. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a devoted member of his community.
Loren married the love of his life, Carolyn Ann Boshell, on September 30, 1956, in the First Baptist Church in Taylorville. Together, they shared many happy years until Carolynís passing in February 2011. Loren was a loving father to their children: Michael Withrow, who preceded him in death, Kenneth Withrow of Taylorville, Leslie “Craig” Withrow (wife, Deni) of Mascoutah, and Tracy Withrow of Decatur. He was also a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.
Loren was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; his son, Michael Withrow; and his parents, Roy and Josephine Withrow.
A dedicated and hardworking individual, Loren attended the School of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and went on to have a fulfilling career as a pharmacist. He initially worked at local drugstores before purchasing and managing Stiehl Drugs in Taylorville for many years. After selling the business, Loren continued his work at Morton Pharmacy in Taylorville and later retired from Endr’s Pharmacy in Pana.
Loren’s heart always remained in Taylorville, where he was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church for most of his life. His favorite pastimes included watching March Madness basketball and enjoying classic films, with Gone With the Wind being his favorite. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Loren’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pana Health and Rehab Center and Quad County Home Health & Hospice for the compassionate care they provided during his final days.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Fraley Cemetery.
Loren will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, love, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and the community he cherished.
