Martha Ann Hahnenkamp

Martha Ann Hahnenkamp, 87, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Pana Health and Rehab Center. She was born September 26, 1938, a daughter of Christopher John and Laura Marie (Gerling) Zuber. She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1956. Martha married Raymond Louis Hahnenkamp on March 30, 1957, in the rectory of the former St. Maryís Catholic Church by Fr. Kowalski. They enjoyed nearly 55 years of marriage until his passing on March 3, 2012.

Martha was a devoted homemaker, and loving mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she was honored as the 2024 Holy Family Woman of Distinction, the last surviving member of the “The Eyes Have It” church group, and a member of the St. Anne’s Society. She was a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels Program. Martha was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, a wonderful cook and pie baker, and loved her grand dogs.

Three daughters, Michelle (Dan) Sweet of Hillsboro, Debbie Hahnenkamp and her husband, Bill Hammac of Taylorville, and Kim Hahnenkamp of Taylorville

Two granddaughters, Olivia and Holly Hammac of Taylorville

Four step-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ian) Sweet-Kelley of Springfield, Natalie Bergman of Hillsboro, Meghan Bertolino of Hillsboro, and Zachary (Nancy) Sweet of Springfield

Six step-great grandchildren, Kennedy, Jude, Dahlia, Atticus, Sloan and Tallulah

A sister, Mary (Harlan) Best of Staunton

Sisters-in-law, Jane Hahnenkamp of Litchfield, Ruth Benning of Raymond, and Erma Hartke of Collinsville

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter Laura in infancy, sisters Christine Henry and Imelda Horn, and a brother, Walter Semplowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield, Fr. Daniel Willenborg will preside. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Litchfield. The Rosary will be recited beginning at 9:00 a.m., with visitation following at approximately 9:30 until the time of mass.
